47 AXP SA mle 1937 is a French 47mm semi-automatic anti-tank gun from the interwar period and World War II. The first weapons were made in 1936, and serial production continued in 1939-1940. Approximately 1,260 cannons of this type were created in its course.
47 AXP SA mle 1937 was developed by Atelier de Puteaux (ATX for short) on the order of the French army to replace the 75 mm mle 1897 gun as the basic anti-tank gun. a silhouette that facilitated camouflage, and above all, good ballistic performance - at a distance of 550 meters, the shell of this gun was able to penetrate 60 mm thick armor. This weapon - in a special version - was used in Somua S35 and Char B1 bis tanks. The cannon successfully took part in the 1940 campaign. After its completion, it was used by the Wehrmacht until the end of World War II under the designation 4.7 cm PaK 181 (f).
