Eduard 632154 HVAR rockets

HVAR (colloquial name: Holy Moses) is an American, unguided air-to-ground missile from World War II and the post-war period. The length of the rocket was 173 cm with a diameter of 127 millimeters. The take-off weight was 63.5 kg, and its effective range was about 1500 meters. The HVAR rocket entered service in 1944 and remained in service until 1955. The HVAR missile was designed at the Caltech research facility as a development of the FFAR unguided missiles. The changes compared to the predecessor concerned the improvement of the projectile's aerodynamics, but most of all the improvement of its maximum speed and accuracy. The weight of the projectile also increased significantly. HVAR missiles could carry various warheads - especially high-explosive, high-explosive and anti-tank warheads. During World War II, missiles of this type were fired from such planes as the P-47 Thunderbolt or the F-4U Corsair. Later, it was possible to fire it, among others from the machines F-84, F-86, but also Fiat G.91. HVAR missiles were used in combat - after 1945 - in the Korean War of 1950-1953.
