The Centennial Hall in Wroc³aw (other names: Hala Ludowa (1945-1989) or German Jahrhunderthalle) is a sports and entertainment hall erected in 1911-1913 according to designed by the outstanding German architect and urban planner Max Berg in a modernist style. The hall was erected to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the publication by the king of Prussia, Frederick William III, of the proclamation "To my people!" Of course, this appeal was issued in Wroc³aw - hence the idea to create the Centennial Hall in this city. A few years before 1913, the city council of Wroc³aw announced a competition in which the brave and avant-garde idea by Max Berg was won. The hall was impressive in size - it was 42 meters high, and the diameter of the dome that covered it was 67 meters! Reinforced concrete was also used on a large scale during its construction. The total available space at the time of commissioning was 14,000 m2. The very approach to the building design was also innovative. In 1962, the hall was entered in the register of monuments, and in 2006 it was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
