HNLMS Evertsen was a Dutch coastal defense battleship from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The keel was laid under the vessel in 1893, the launch took place in September 1894, and commissioned in 1896. The length of the ship was 86.2 meters and a width of 14.33 meters. The displacement was around 3,450 tons and the maximum speed was around 16 knots. The on-board armament, at the time of launching, consisted, inter alia, of: 3 cannons of 210 mm, 2 cannons of 150 mm or 6 cannons of 76 mm.

HNLMS Evertsen was one of three coastal defense battleships belonging to the class of units of the same name - the Evertsen. Units of this type were created in connection with the need to modernize the Dutch naval fleet, which at the end of the 1880s, was technologically more and more distant from world standards. The Evertsen-class vessel was designed to have the most powerful armament used in the Dutch Navy at the time, as well as to have relatively high seaworthiness for ships of this class. HNLMS Evertsen, however, after entering the service, did not take part in any conflict and for almost 20 years of his service he performed training tasks. It was withdrawn from the line in 1913.
