The Sikorsky S-43 is an American, high-wing, twin-engine flying boat. The prototype flight took place in 1935. The plane was used by PanAm for passenger and transport purposes. Relatively quickly, the US Navy and US Marines Corps purchased 17 machines of this type and designated them as JRS-1, and USAAC purchased 6 machines designated Y10A-8. These airplanes were used to transport troops and equipment, and also as flying landing boats. The role of the drive unit was performed by Pratt-Whitney R-1690-52 engines with a power of 750HP each. Machines of this type were withdrawn from service at the turn of 1941-1942. Technical data: length: 15.6 m, wingspan: 26.21 m, height: 5.38 m, maximum speed: 306 km / h, maximum range: 1250 km, maximum ceiling 6300 m.
