The American town of Baltimore is located in the state of Maryland on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. It received city rights in 1729, but, interestingly, the history of the port and naval base in Baltimore dates back to an earlier time, because it dates back to the first decade of the 18th century. In 1729-1730, the port was incorporated into the city limits of Baltimore. Along with the intensive development of shipping in the North American colonies, boatbuilding and shipbuilding facilities also developed there, and the port of Baltimore was undoubtedly one of the most important in the 18th century. The so-called Baltimore clippers, i.e. 1- and 2-mast sailing vessels of relatively small size, but high speed. It is worth adding that in the course of the US Independence War (1776-1783), the port of Baltimore played a significant role. Incidentally, I can add that at the moment Helen Delich Bentley Port Baltimore is one of the most important transshipment ports on the US east coast.
