Project 12412 is the Russian term for the class of corvettes and small patrol ships from the Cold War and modern times. Units of this type began to enter service in the Soviet Navy (MW) from around 1980. Ships of this type are 56.4 meters long, with a width of about 10.2 meters and a draft of 2.1 meters. However, the maximum speed reaches 32-33 knots. The armament is mainly the 76.2 mm AK-176M gun and the 30 mm AK-630M anti-aircraft artillery set. The units also have four single 400 mm torpedo tubes. The design of the project 12412 units was largely based on the Tarantul type ships (among other things, the same hull was used in both types of ships). Initially, it was assumed that the units would primarily perform strictly military patrol tasks and would be intended for anti-submarine warfare (ZOP). With time, however, units were also added tasks de facto reserved for border guards - for example, the fight against smuggling and the broadly understood protection of their own coastal waters in times of peace. It is worth adding that several units of this type are used by the Ukrainian Navy, including Minsk and Grigory Kuropjatnikov. They were built in the period 1980-1982, and were under the Ukrainian flag in 1994-1995.
