The IFA L60 is an East German truck from the post-war and modern times. The vehicle was produced in 1987-1990 and a total of about 20,300 copies were made. It was 6.64 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. The drive was provided by a single 6-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 179-180 HP. The IFA L60 truck was manufactured at the VEB IFA-Automobilwerke Ludwigsfelde plant. The new vehicle was created to replace the W50 model on sale, which had been produced since 1965. Compared to its predecessor, it differed primarily in the power unit, with significantly greater capacity, but also maximum power, the driver's cab tilted forward, new axles and other minor cosmetic changes. The big disadvantage was the significant complexity of the entire structure (especially the drive train), which made the new car much less popular than the W50 model. After the reunification of Germany, initiated in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall, the IFA L60 did not have much chance against vehicles from western Germany on the free market, which meant that its production was discontinued in 1990.
