The Mk.20 Rockeye II (another designation: CBU-100 Cluster Bomb) is an American, free-fall, anti-tank cluster bomb from the post-war and modern times. The first copies of this weapon appeared in 1967. Its weight is just over 220 kilograms and carries up to 247 rounds of Mk.118 Mod.1 sub-ammunition as standard. The Mk.20 Rockeye II bomb was developed as a weapon to combat primarily tanks and armored vehicles of the Warsaw Pact countries. It was one of the weapons that was to be NATO's effective response to the growing advantage of the Soviet Union in this area of Cold War weapons. Paradoxically, however, it was first used on a large scale during the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975) against not only a few mechanized vehicles, but also human force. After this conflict, the weapon was modernized and used on a large scale during the First Gulf War (1990-1991). The Mk.20 Rockeye II bomb could or could be carried by machines such as Douglas A-4 Skyhawk or McDonnell-Douglas F / A-18 Hornet.
