3.7 cm cannon PaK 36 (full name: Panzerabwehrkanone 36) is a German towed 37mm anti-tank gun from the interwar period and the initial phase of World War II. The first prototypes of the weapon were created in the 1920s, and when the PaK 36 gun entered service, it was perceived as one of the most modern guns in its class in the world. While in the course of the fighting in Poland in 1939, it fulfilled its role well, in the course of the battles in France in 1940 and at the beginning of the war with the Soviet Union (1941) it turned out to be almost completely useless and obsolete. One of the main types of ammunition used in this gun was the Panzergranate (PzGr), with an initial speed of 745 m / s. The PzGr 40 missile was also used, with a reduced mass and an initial speed of up to 1020 m / s. Such a missile could penetrate an armor plate with a slope of 30 degrees and a thickness of 31 mm over a distance of 500 meters, a thickness of 22 mm at a distance of 1000 meters and 20 mm at a distance of 1500 meters. From 1943, the Stielgranate 41 caliber projectile was also used.
