Hobby Boss 87010 PLA Type 033

The Type 033 is the name of a class of Chinese diesel-electric fighter submarines (SS). Units of this type were produced in the years 1962-1984. In total, 88 units of this type were built. The Type 033 is 76.6 meters long, 6.7 meters wide, and has a displacement of approximately 1,830 tons. The maximum underwater speed is approximately 13 knots. The ships had eight 533 mm torpedo tubes. The Type 033 ships were developed and put into production based on the documentation of the Soviet Romeo-class units and are - with modifications - their licensed version. The main changes involved better soundproofing of the units and the installation of a new Chinese-made sonar of the Type 105. In the course of serial production, several variants of the Type 033 were created, which had, for example, better electronic equipment. The ships of this type were exported to North Korea and Egypt.
