TKt48 is a series of steam locomotives (steam locomotives), which were produced in 1950-1957 at the Hipolit Cegielski in Poznań (abbreviated: HCP) and at the Fablok plant in Chrzanów. The service weight of a single locomotive was 98 tons, and its length - 14.2 m. The diameter of the driving wheels was 1450 mm, with the axle system 1'D1 '. In total, 293 locomotives of this type were built.
The TKt48 steam locomotive (colloquially called "tekatka") was dedicated primarily to hauling freight trains and passenger rolling stock on regional routes with low passenger capacity. Due to its low weight and having four pairs of driving wheels, the TKt48 had great starting acceleration and fitted the curves very well. It also had sufficient power and was able to cope well in mountainous and hilly terrain. The maximum speed of this locomotive was 80 km / h. It is worth adding that the TKt48 was the last series of steam locomotives delivered to PKP by the Fablok plant.
