Ardpol 72-060 Pfalz D.VIII

The Pfalz D.VIII was a German biplane fighter from the First World War. The prototype flight took place in 1918. The machine entered production in the same year, and about 40 machines of this type were built. The drive was provided by a single Siemens-Halske Sh engine. III with 160 HP. The length of the aircraft was 5.65 meters with a wingspan of 7.52 meters. The deck armament consisted of two 7.92 mm LMG 08/15 machine guns.

The D.VIII model was constructed at the Pfalz Flugzeugwerke aviation plant, as essentially a development of the Dr.I. Both machines were powered by the same engine, with the D.VIII being a biplane and Dr. I a three-plane. There were also differences in the sizes of both planes - D.VIII was slightly smaller than its ancestor. The first order for Pfalz D.VIII was for 120 units, but due to problems with the supply, only some of them were produced. A certain number of produced machines went to the Western Front in April 1918, where they served until the ceasefire, but a much larger number remained in Germany and did not take part in the fighting.
