Pz.Beob.Wg. The V (full name: Panzerbeobachtunswagen V) was a German WWII prototype reconnaissance and artillery reconnaissance vehicle. The prototype of the vehicle was built in 1943, but the car never entered mass production. The hull length was 6.87 meters and the width was 3.27 meters. The drive was provided by a single Maybach HL-230 P30 engine with a capacity of 700 HP. Ultimately, the armament of the car was to consist of a dummy cannon 50 mm Kw.K. 39/1 and a single 7.92 mm MG 34 machine gun. Pz.Beob.Wg. V was developed at the Rheinmetall and Anschütz plants as a specific development version of the Pz.Kpfw. V Panther. The new car retained the entire hull, chassis, suspension and drive of the Panther Ausf tank. D, but a slightly modified turret (from the Panther Ausf. A) was used, in which only a dummy 50mm gun was installed. The new vehicle also received extensive equipment enabling good artillery observation opportunities. However, due to high unit costs as well as limited production capacity, the car never entered mass production.
