Ardpol 72-032 RWD-16

The RWD-16 was a Polish prototype low-wing sports plane, with a mixed construction, with a fixed undercarriage, from the interwar period. The drive was provided by a single Avia III engine with a maximum power of 60 HP. The prototype's flight took place in June 1936. The basic version of the plane never entered mass production.

The RWD-16 was developed by Andrzej Anczutin, and its production was undertaken by the Experimental Aviation Workshop (DWL) in Warsaw. The new plane has been developed as a light and possibly cheap to produce and operate sports plane dedicated to the civilian market. However, in the course of tests and flight tests, it turned out that the RWD-16 is an underdeveloped aircraft - it was primarily characterized by poor horizontal stability and had a very emergency horizontal stabilizer. The aircraft was modernized in the period 1937-1938 and its designation was changed to RWD-16bis. This version was created in an unknown number of copies, estimated at 10-20 copies.
