Revell 05232 Rhine Steamer Goethe

The Goethe is a German paddle-wheeled steam passenger ship that was launched in the summer of 1913 and entered service that same year. The total length of the ship is now 83.25 meters and the width (including the paddle wheels) is 15.7 meters. Currently, the travel speed is around 14-16 knots. The ship can carry up to 950 passengers. The Goethe was originally constructed as a freight and passenger ferry and served as such on the Rhine from 1913. Luckily it survived World War I, in the 1920s it was converted into a passenger ferry, which today could actually be called a cruise or tourist ship. During World War II, it served primarily as a transport unit, and in March 1945 (as a result of an American air attack) it was sunk. However, in the early 1950s, it was completely renovated and re-entered service in 1953. In the course of renovation, it was extended, it also received a new drive unit and many other improvements. In 1995, the Goethe ship underwent another renovation, becoming a typical tourist ship. It currently runs regularly on the Rhine on the Koblenz-Rüdesheim route from April to October.
