The Sälskär lighthouse was built in 1868 on a small island, now part of Finland, of the same name (ie Sälskär), which is part of the Åland archipelago. The height of the lighthouse tower is 30 meters, and the building rises 44 meters above sea level. The lighthouse was built in the form of a round brick tower. The light projected by the lantern is visible from a distance of 12 kilometers. The facility was built according to the design of Axel Hampus Dahlström, the same who was also responsible for the designs of several other currently Finnish lighthouses, including on the island of Ulkokalla. The Sälskär lighthouse was automated in 1949. It is currently painted white, with a black lantern and a red roof. It is worth noting that this facility can only be reached by boat - there are no ferry connections with the mainland.
