Régie Renault launched in 1962 the Renault R8 wich well be, with the R10, the last car with a motor placed at the rear until the appearance of the Twingo III in 2014.

The model also had a modified gearbox. It is worth adding that Renault R8 was produced under license in Bulgaria, Spain and Romania. In the offer of the Renault concern it was replaced by the 12 model.
