The T31 demolition tank was a prototype American heavy tank from the Second World War. The only prototype of the vehicle underwent field tests in 1945. The T31 tank, however, never entered mass production. The vehicle was powered by a single engine Ford GAA with a power of 500 hp. The tank was armed with two 182 mm T94 rocket launchers and three 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm Browning machine guns.
At the end of 1944, design work began on a completely new tank for the US Army, the sole purpose of which was to destroy enemy fortifications and bunkers. To speed up the pace of work, it was decided to use the chassis and the hull of the M4A3 Sherman tank with the HVSS chassis. The main armament of the vehicle were T94 rockets, mounted on a completely new turret on its sides. It was also planned to install a flamethrower on the vehicle. In the course of the trials, however, there were significant problems with the missile launcher reloading system, which ultimately led to the vehicle not being put into mass production.
