The Maybach HL210 is a German carburettor internal combustion engine from the interwar period and World War II. Maybach Motorenbau GmbH, established in 1909, was responsible for the design and production of this engine. The Maybach HL210 was a 12-cylinder power unit with a capacity of 21.35 liters in which the cylinders were arranged in the V-shape. The maximum power that this engine was able to generate reached 650 HP. The engine was able to run at up to 3,000 revolutions per minute. The engine (especially its body) was made largely of aluminum, which significantly reduced the weight of the entire power unit. The engine was produced in one basic version, designated Maybach HL210 TRM. These three letters TRM meant that the engine had the so-called dry sump (TR from German Trockensumpfschmierung ), as well as electric ignition based on a magneto (M from German Schnapper-Magnetzündung). The Maybach HL210 was only installed in the first mass-produced Panzer V Ausf tanks. D Panther as well as on the fronts of the Panzer VI Tiger. It is worth adding that it became the starting point for the development of the Maybach HL230 engine.
