The Vanatorul de Care R-35 is a Romanian tank destroyer from the Second World War. The length of the vehicle was 4.02 meters, with a width of 1.87 meters and a height of 2.13 meters. The drive was provided by a single, 4-cylinder Renault 447 engine with power up to 82-85 HP. The main armament of the car consisted of a single 45 mm cannon. The maximum speed did not exceed 20 km / h. However, the maximum thickness of the armor of the car was 40 mm. In total, about 30 vehicles of this type were built.
Vanatorul de Care R-35 was developed on the basis of Renault R-35 tanks imported from France. It is worth adding that this import took place in 1939, i.e. before Romania joined the Axis countries. Interestingly, the production of these cars in Romania was also considered, but it did not come to fruition. These tanks, of course, were part of the Romanian armored units and proved fatally ineffective against the Soviet T-34 in the period 1941-1942. This, in turn, forced the modernization of some of the vehicles in the Vanatorul de Care R-35 tank destroyer. The first prototypes of these cars were ready in early 1943. However, it should be said that the presented vehicle turned out to be of little use against such vehicles as the T-34/85, not to mention the IS-2 vehicles. The vehicle was in fact only suitable for fighting light and medium armored targets, such as the Soviet T-60 or T-70 light tanks.
