The North American X-15 is an American rocket-powered experimental aircraft that has set many aviation records. The flight of the prototype took place on June 8, 1959, in the same year the plane entered service, in which it stayed until 1970. Only 3 were built in total: X-15A1, X-15A2 and X15A3. These machines were carried out for independent flight by the mother plane, namely by a modified B-52 bomber, designated NB-52. The propulsion was a Thiokol XLR99-RM-2 liquid fuel rocket engine.
