The ZiS-22 was a Soviet half-track transporter from the interwar period and World War II. The vehicle had a total length of 6.06 meters and a width of 2.4 meters. It reached a maximum speed of 35 km / h and was able to carry a load of 2.25 tons. Motors with a power of 73 HP served as the drive.
Design work on the ZiS-22 began in 1940 based on the chassis and many components of the successful ZiS-5 truck. Their aim was to create a tractor and half-track transporter with the best possible off-road capability. In order to shorten the research and development works, many elements from the ZiS-5 car were used. The main modification was the use of a half-track suspension in the rear part of the car. After quite intensive tests, the ZiS-22 was approved for production, but in 1941 its modernized version appeared - the ZiS-22M. Only 61 copies of both versions were produced. They took part in combat operations in 1941 and possibly in early 1942.
