Náchod Castle was originally a medieval fortification work located in the territory of Bohemia, and more precisely in the Hradec Králové region in the north of the country. Náchod Castle was built in the middle of the 13th century to guard the strategically important trade route between Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland. With time, the castle was expanded, performing mainly military functions for the rest of the Middle Ages (14th-15th centuries). It was only between 1556-1614 that the building received a much more residential character, when it was rebuilt in the spirit of the Renaissance. It is worth adding that the palace was temporarily owned by Albrecht Wallenstein - one of the most eminent leaders of the Thirty Years' War, who was of Czech origin. Another reconstruction took place in the 18th century and it is in this form that the palace has survived to our times. The residence happily survived both world wars and was nationalized in 1945. Currently, the palace is open to tourists.
